Bifrost
Bifrost, The Rainbow Bridge, is the ultimate in inter-dimensional transportation. According to the Eddas, Bifrost was a burning rainbow that connected Midgard with Asgard. Anyone traveling onward to Vanaheim then had to pay a hefty toll. Some scholars have suggested that Bifrost was actually the Milky Way. So next time you are out in a field with someone and they try to impress you by saying, hey, you see that white band in the sky, that’s the Milky Way, you can tell them, no, ignorant person, that is the bridge to Asgard! In recent years Bifrost has been subject to “law suit fever” and is now governed by countless safety rules and regulations. But as Loki notes, there is nothing heroic about getting splattered over multiple planes of existence for goofing off in the elevator.
